Abdominal fitness is very popular nowadays due to everybody’s craze for ripped six-packs. Mass-media and various commercials persuade people to attend fitness centers and buy ab machines with the purpose to make their abdomens flat. Consequently, a lot of people are involved in abdominal training. But unfortunately, not all of them get results they want due to the most common mistakes.
First of all, many fitness enthusiasts erroneously think that in case they want ripped abs, they need to do ab exercises only: and the more – the better. Finally, they do hundreds of crunches and do not see any result. Such an approach will never lead to well-defined six-packs, since ab exercises are unable to cope with abdominal fat hiding the abs. The latter may be very strong due to regular abdominal exercises, but not visible due to a layer of fat. The solution to this problem is regular intensive cardio training. It will make you work hard and burn extra fat including your abdomen.
Another big mistake is that people eat a lot when they train. They think that everything will be burnt due to regular intensive workout, but instead of it surprisingly gain weight. This happens because they consume more than they can burn during even the most intensive training. In the end the organism is unable to cope with all that amount of calories and starts accumulating fat, while the initial task was to burn existing fat accumulations. So, in order to part with extra fat and not to gain even more it is recommended to eat less. Reasonable reduction of calories will make your organism turn to burning fat accumulations and you will gradually lose weight.
One more serious mistake made by many is inappropriate fitness routine. Here people really run to extremes. While some choose very intensive training in order to get results faster, others have easy workouts and waste their time. In case you have an undoable and exhaustive routine you will give up it too quickly, since you will be unable to train regularly. And on the contrary, if the exercises are not difficult for you at all you risk to train in vain. 20-25 reps for an exercise are more than enough. Hundreds of crunches will not provide you any result since they are not efficient for your abdomen. That is why it is advisable to undergo a fitness test in order to determine your physical abilities and develop a proper fitness program taking into account your goals and peculiarities of your body. Ideally, it should be done by an experienced fitness instructor. In such a way you will protect yourself from the most common mistakes and start training efficiently from the very beginning.
