If you need your legs built, usually you would need to focus on exercises that are specifically for them. Here are a few exercises that you can do to gain leg and foot strength to help you in performing sports well.
The Squat
This exercise is one of the best ways to toughen the thighs and keep them in shape. It builds your thigh and calf muscles, making your overall performance in sports that much better. Position a barbell onto your shoulders with the weight being half of what you usually would carry over your shoulders. Bend your knees so your thighs reach a sitting position, and lift back up. Take a break after doing the first set of reps, then you can come back to repeat the reps again. By consistently lifting each day, the weight you do will increase.
Hopping as an Exercise
This is a one-legged jump that will strengthen both your legs. Your objective here is to hop about 20 meters, with the length of each hop being as far as you can. Repeat this again with the other leg. Take a short break between each length that you do on either leg. In no time at all, your calves and thigh muscles will be resilient.
Exercising with Lunges
Stand with both feet about fifteen inches apart. Keep a straight back as you dip your body straight down, touching your right knee barely to the ground. Raise yourself to the starting position, alternating between both legs so both get the same workout. Before doing another set, take a short break. Your legs will stay strong by doing this exercise.
